OSC Brings Voters Education to Bongao, Tawi-Tawi

Bongao, Tawi-Tawi | April 13, 2025 — The Office for Settler Communities (OSC) conducted a voters education forum at the Barangay Hall of Brgy. Pag-asa, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi to raise awareness about the upcoming Bangsamoro parliamentary elections, as outlined in Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 35, also known as the Bangsamoro Electoral Code.
The activity was made possible through the support of Member of Parliament Dr. Susana Salvador-Anayatin of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), who also serves as Executive Director of the OSC. The forum aligns with MP Anayatin’s efforts to advance voter education and inclusive participation among settler communities in the Bangsamoro region.
The event was conducted in coordination with Brgy. Chairwoman Hon. Lordeliza F. Abejo and was attended by barangay officials and community leaders from settler, Moro, and Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities, with settlers comprising the majority of participants.
Serving as resource persons for the forum were Dr. Enrique Sonsona Oliveros Jr. Political Affairs Officer and Community Development Officer for Tawi-Tawi Sawadjaan J. Manulon. Oliveros shared key information about settler rights and the significance of the upcoming elections, while Manulon facilitated the open forum in the Tausug language, making the discussion more accessible to the local audience.
The OSC continues to play a vital role in empowering communities through civic education and participatory governance initiatives.
