The Official Turnover Ceremony for Hon. Abdulraof A. Macacua as the newly appointed Interim Chief Minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) took place on March 27, 2025, at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City. The momentous occasion signified the transition of leadership and the continued pursuit of peace and development in the region.
Notably, March 27 also marked the 11th anniversary of the signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), the historic peace deal that laid the foundation for the creation of BARMM.
The turnover of leadership marked the formal handover of responsibilities from former Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim, who has led BARMM since its establishment in 2019, to Chief Minister Macacua. Representing Ahod Ebrahim at the event was BARMM Senior Minister Abunawas “Von Al-Haq” Maslamama, who stood on behalf of the outgoing leader.
In his message delivered through Senior Minister Maslamama, former Chief Minister Ebrahim conveyed his confidence in Chief Minister Macacua’s leadership and encouraged continued commitment to moral governance and unity.
Chief Minister Macacua emphasized that no one will be left behind, echoing the words of MP Mohagher Iqbal. The new Interim Chief Minister further stated, “Together, with unity and faith, we will overcome. Let us write the next chapter of Bangsamoro.”
The event was attended by BARMM officials, Members of Parliament, stakeholders, and representatives from various sectors, all showing their support for the leadership transition. The Official Turnover Ceremony underscored the Bangsamoro Government’s commitment to ensuring continuity in governance and the sustained progress of the region.
