OSC and BTA Engage in Key Activities, Aid Distributions, and BARMM Leadership Transition

 


The Office for Settler Communities (OSC) led by Executive MP Dr. Susana Salvador Anayatin and the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), carried out a series of high-impact activities throughout the week of March 24 to March 30, ranging from humanitarian aid distributions to official engagements and leadership transitions.

On March 24, MP Dr. Anayatin attended the BTA oath-taking ceremony at Malacañang, underscoring the commitment of Bangsamoro leaders to furthering governance and development in the region. Meanwhile, at the OSC and BTA office, staff members started the day in Filipiniana-inspired attire, celebrating the rich cultural identity of the Bangsamoro settlers.

Humanitarian Efforts and Community Consultations

On March 25, the OSC and BTA ramped up their community outreach. 300 food packs were delivered to the Office of the Senior Minister for Iftar, ensuring that families had the means to break their fast. At the same time, a consultation dialogue with Bangsamoro settler women in Pikit, SGA was held, led by OSC’s Technical Division Chief Atty. Edwin Matura, addressing the needs of women in the region.

Women’s Month Tribute and Social Aid Initiatives

Marking the final Wednesday of Women’s Month on March 26, OSC and BTA staff wore purple in solidarity with the ongoing advocacy for women’s empowerment. That day, 14 orphans under the Kupkop Program and four small businesses under the Bangsamoro Sagip Kabuhayan (BSK) program received support, funded through MP Anayatin’s TDIF 2023 in partnership with the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD).

Additionally, the Ministry of Health (MOH), in coordination with MP Anayatin, turned over a land ambulance to Barangay Manila Group, Wao, ensuring improved medical response for the community. Further supporting Ramadan observances, 200 prayer kits were delivered to MTIT for Children’s Night and Grand Iftar. Meanwhile, another consultation session with Bangsamoro women in Northern Kabuntalan was held, highlighting their concerns and livelihood opportunities.

Leadership Transition and More Aid Distributions

A significant event for the Bangsamoro Government took place on March 27, as Hon. Abdulraof A. Macacua officially assumed office as Interim Chief Minister. The transition was a milestone for BARMM’s governance, reinforcing its commitment to continuity and progress.

On the same day, seven indigent settler families in Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur, received ₱15,000 each under the BSK Program, a livelihood assistance initiative funded through MP Anayatin’s TDIF 2024 in partnership with MSSD. The aid was distributed by BTA staff Dr. Jane Abdul, RN, and coordinated with MSSD Minister Atty. Raissa Jajurie.

To further extend Ramadan support, 150 food packs were distributed during a free Iftar on Children’s Night at the Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City, organized by OSC under the leadership of MP Anayatin.

Expanded Cabinet Meeting

On March 28, Chief Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua presided over his first Expanded Cabinet Meeting at Bajau Hall, Office of the Chief Minister, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City. The meeting brought together officials from Ministries, Offices, and Agencies, as well as Members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament and the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM).

The discussions focused on key governance matters, including:

  • Orientation on the Cabinet Handbook, providing guidance on the roles and responsibilities of Cabinet members.
  • Cabinet Legislative Agenda, aligning executive priorities with legislative initiatives.
  • Updates on the Southern Philippines Development Authority (SPDA) and other governance concerns.
  • Preparations for the upcoming Intergovernmental Relations Body (IGRB) Meeting, ensuring coordination between the Bangsamoro Government and the National Government.

MP Dr. Susana Salvador Anayatin was among the key participants, engaging in discussions that addressed policies affecting settler communities in the Bangsamoro region. The meeting reinforced the administration’s commitment to moral governance, policy coherence, and inclusive development.

Celebrating Eid’l Fitr


The week concluded with the observance of Eid’l Fitr on March 30, marking the end of Ramadan. MP Anayatin and the OSC extended their warmest greetings to the Bangsamoro community, reaffirming their dedication to inclusivity, service, and empowerment for all settlers in the region.
